What are Trouble Hands in Poker
Any hand that costs you more money if played can be termed as Trouble hands. If you keep them for a long time, they have the potential of giving you a monster hand and if you have opponents with weaker hand than yours. In short, trouble hands in this regard, stands for any hand that appears great in the beginning, but have the capability to land you in deeper and deeper in trouble, by extracting more and more money from you with the progress of the game.
However, new players won’t be benefitted by this definition. Novice players are not in a position to differentiate as to which of the starting hands are troublesome hands and which are not, unlike seasoned players.
There are certain troublesome hands that a newcomer is advised not to play. As a thumb rule, newcomers need to gain more experience and understand the game thoroughly before banking to win using the troublesome hands. While experienced players play these troublesome hands often as they just know how to play them. However, if you want to play them, there are mentioned below so that you can gain some knowledge on them to at least minimize your losses.
A pair of Jacks
It is advisable to fold if you are a starter. If you would like to give it a try, call at the first round of betting. Try not to raise. Keep your cost to a minimum if you look to see the flop. However, if your opponent raises, it is best to fold before your incur further losses as chances are high that you are beat.
King and Ten
Newcomers are attracted with the King and play it. What they do not realize that experts, when faced with this hand muck it. If got a top pair (KK) after the flop, chances are high that you have company and a 10 is not the best kicker to get out of the situation. You might lose your stack while waiting to get a straight set that may never come.
Ace and Ten
With this combination, you can flop a top pair. However, chances run very high of your opponents having better cards than you, if they keep on raising and calling through the flop. If you flop a pair of Aces, someone else probably has the same pair, probably a King kicker or even a trip.

The question of Poker being more than just skill’ remains debatable till date. Many do not bother to realize the importance of this question, as long as they are winning. It does not matter them why they are winning. But the true fact is ‘why’ is equally important for a person to understand just as winning poker is.
